Fantastic night out.

Situated outside a small village West Row, not far from the air base Mildenhall, you will find Mildenhall Stadium.
This venue offers Greyhound racing, Stock Car Racing and Speedway (Fen Tigers.) I am writing this in relation to Stock Car racing.
Firstly, there is free ample parking right next to the stadium. It's a family friendly environment where children will definitely enjoy stock car racing and in particular Bangers who crash and smash their way around the raceway.
The entry fees are very reasonable, Adults £11 Concessions £5 Family £27 (2 adults and up to four concessions). Admission includes car parking and programme.
It's certainly value for money. The team who run the stock car meetings, RDC promotions are friendly, welcoming and put on fantastic stock car meetings. You'll never be disappointed with any meeting that you attend there. There is a superb bar where the prices are very reasonable and you can watch the racing here if you wish. There is also a fish and chip bar which is known as the best fish and chip bar amongst the speedway and stock car tracks.
There are adequate toilet facilities and you can walk around the pit area looking at all the cars being prepared and worked on which children in particular would enjoy. You must however take caution in these areas and if there has been some rain the pit area (a field) maybe muddy.
There is cover at the stadium so should it rain you can take cover but you can leisurely walk around the track so you can action from all angles.
A great night (or day) out. Friendly, welcoming and the children will love it, cheering on their favourite car.

Excellent accommodation

This Hotel is an excellent establishment, situated in the Scottish coastal resort of Burntisland, approx 20 minutes train journey from Edinburgh.
They have 4 ensuite bedrooms and all rooms are non-smoking. Outside however, for smokers they have excellent facilities such as a covered comfortable seated area and patio heater, which leads out onto their private car park.
This hotel is open to the public and the bar downstairs offers comfortable seating with drinks and meals all at reasonable prices. The food is excellent and highly recommended and the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming where nothing is too much trouble. The famous "Gutbuster" breakfast is definitely what is says..even the biggest eater would struggle with this one! (And they serve breakfast right up to 12 noon!)
Highly recommended. The only small downside is that because the bar is open to the public, if you wanted an early night you would hear some noise from downstairs.
However, do not let this put you off. The locals in the bar are extremely friendly to visitors and the pub quizzes are quite a highlight. You might just see this hotel in passing but please make a point of stopping if only for a drink and meal.

Not bad

I like this pub for a girly lunch. It's the sort of pub with the same chain type menus, and the same sort of prices but here you can feel relaxed. Unlike in some eating establishments, once you've finished eating you feel you have to move on. Here, you can eat, drink and gossip in comfort and not feel pushed out.
The bar drinks are more expensive than local pubs but it's got a good feel about the place. It's spacious and the toilets are clean. It's ideal for families aswell. There is a large car park, just off the A16, and the attached play area (whilst not free) can help the kids burn off some steam especially if they've been cooped up in the car on their journeys.
An Ok pub. If you don't mind the usual chain pub type food then this is an ok place to go.

Average out of town pub

This is a cosy out of town/village pub which offer good meals at reasonable prices.
When going for Sunday lunch (which is a carvery) you can get a drink and wait in the bar area but to be honest, on a Sunday, it's nowhere near big enough. The rest of the pub is then taken up with tables for lunch with a large conservatory at the rear with more dining tables. When your seat is ready a waitress will collect you and take you to your table. She will then come and tell you when you can go up to the carvery to get what you want. This might sound militarian but it does at least mean that when you join the queue it's not that long. they are very organised in that sense which is very good.
The food was hot and delicious with as much as you wanted really. Couldn't fault it. The drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and courteous which is something hard to come by these days. During the week i hear the evening meals are just as good but less busy. Definitely worth a look if you want to avoid the chain type pubs.

Good comfort food

Recently went here for Sunday lunch with the family. Hadn’t been in this village pub for a very long while but would go again. The pub is situated off the A52 between Boston and Skegness in the village of Wrangle. It’s opposite the Church and village hall.
There is a large car park and the pub has that cosy village feel when you enter. There is plenty of seating in the pub area with a good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. The bar area is split into 2 rooms, one with a pool table and the other more open. The restaurant is at the rear of the pub in a separate room, and on Sundays they offer a carvery roast. The actual area where you fetch your food is quite small so we were struggling to have more than 1 person at a time getting their vegetables but everything was so hot and fresh. They brought gravy to the table and ensured that we had everything we needed. The prices were very reasonable and the food was good comfort Lincolnshire food.

Premier Inn

excellent, especially for families

Ideally located as it's right by the London Eye on the South Bank. It's just a short walk from Waterloo tube or railway station and the Embankment tube isn't far away either.
I feel that this Premier Travel Inn is the best for families visiting London. Not only because it's most economical (and under 15's eat breakfast free) but the rooms here are very spacious. I've yet to located in a pokey room here. The walls are thick here (think this was an ex-Govt/Council building) so noise from neighbouring rooms isn't as bad as some modern hotels with paper thin walls.
The rooms are clean with the standard Premier Inn decor and facilities but this hotel offers a free luggage room. So, if you arrive early and they are unable to book you in, you can leave your luggage in their secure room, go off and explore without lugging bags around.
In the breakfast area there is a waiter at the door to check your room number or take payment (you can choose to pay for breakfast upon booking in or on the morning.) S/He will the show you to a table and explain the layout. This is a self-serice area which I've found to be less hectic than other Premier inn hotels. They offer a range of hot foods as well as toast, cereals, fruit, muffins etc with hot and cold drinks. Breakfast is extra here at £7.50 but it's eat as much as you want.
I always recommend this hotel to families as it's just so ideal. When my partner and i stay in London we opt for this hotel because of it's location. There are so many thinngs within easy reach (covent garden 25 min walk) and there are almost always street entertainers along the south bank. Well worth it and highly recommended.

Quilligans Cafe Bar

My must visit cafe whenever I am in Blackpool. From the outside it doesn't look much inside it opens up at the back to provide a welcoming and friendly cafe.
They have a wide range of foods to try so something for everyone all at reasonable prices. For me, they might be a bit more expensive than other places but I would prefer to pay a bit extra for the wonderful service you get.
They like to make their meals from scratch and are always fresh. Whenever I hear anyone that's going to Blackpool I always recommend this family run business. It makes a very refreshing change from the chain coffee shops.
It's located near the Winter Gardens and not far from the Tower or shops. There are clean toilets and the cafe itself is clean. They usually have some nice relaxing music in the background with free papers to browse (as long as you put them back when you've finished.) Highly recommended.

Nice for a snack or shopping trip lunch
4
Located on the top floor of the towns independent family-run department store is their restaurant.
Firstly, Oldrids was given the Gold award by the Environmental health department during their health inspection which is THE highest rating for food hygiene standards.
They offer a selection of foods from sandwiches, salads to jacket potatoes and a small selection of hot meals, often having a special of the day. there is also a good selection of different drinks, hot and cold, and they are very happy to oblige with any meal requests i.e. if a sandwich is not available to your liking then just ask and their kitchen staff will prepare it.
If you are going at lunchtime it can get very hectic. I would often agree to meet a friend for lunch at say 12 noon but there would always be a queue.
The food is always hot and I've yet to be disappointed. I do think that some of their prices are a bit high but are actully comparable to other dept stores.
When you have got your meal you then have to queue for the till which is always my bug bear as your meal is getting cold. Cutlery is in an area just after the till.
The staff do try their upmost to keep a clean and tidy restaurant and always seem to be clearing tables and making sure that everyone has somewhere to sit. Despite having refurbished the area and made more space for tables, at lunchtimes it can sometimes be a bit difficult looking for a spare seat, though there is always one, you just need to look. (Alot of people like the seats near the windows so they can gaze down onto the people walking through the precint below.)
I would recommend a cup of tea and a homemade scone. Great if you've just got into town for a shopping trip and want a drink for eleveneses.
The toilets are located on the same floor but just a few steps away from the restaurant. these are roomy and clean and there are also toilets for the disabled and baby changing.

A must for jazz fans
5
Same menu, same prices but the atmosphere is so different to other Pizza Express restaurants.
At Pizza Express, Dean Street, you are located in the heart of Soho. The restaurant is divided into different sections. Upstairs there are about 3 different areas of tables so that you are not all on top of one another. However, in the evening, the downstairs "basement" is open, where they have live jazz acts playing.
When I want to go and see a live act, I ring and book my tickets for the show which automatically reserves me a table. I will then go early with friends, go down to the basement where my name will be on their list and am seated. We then have a meal and drink and usually the act is about to begin as we're finishing eating. You can however eat and drink throughout the show if you so wish, the waiters/waiteresses milling about who are more than happy to bring you more drinks.
The atmosphere in the "basement" is one of chilled, relaxation. When I visit London this is my one must-do thing. You don't just go for a meal to eat, you go to socialize and have a complete night out.
The toilets are always clean, they will take your coat for you and be obliging. In the upstairs window is a TV showing live footage of the event downstairs so you can have a sneaky peek.
All in all one of the best eating places I've been to.

What a disaster. The local Environmental Health Dept are finally taking them to court for their failure to adhere to even the basic food hygeiene rules.
When I had visited in the past, the floors behind the counter were always covered in discarded chips and rubbish, nothing seemed clean and the service was atrocious. If you got a simple please and thankyou you were very lucky. The restaurant area was always filthy, tables never cleaned correctly and the floors around the tables were ineveitably you always end up dropping some chips were never swept. Rubbish bins would overflow and at night you would have to ask for the toilets to be opened (which if you had a child in tow isn't always the most convenient thing.) I vowed to never use them again and I haven't.
They do offer different combo meals so there's always something for everyone but the food isn't always that hot. Beware!
