What a great place! Shunt is a very special venue.
The first time I heard about was from a friend who told me about an interactive theater play he saw there where the audience were taking part and being guided to different rooms. The audience didn't know who is an actor and who is just a viewer... very cool!

I saw there an experimental music event in which people were playing on some very weird tools including throwing a bunch of gems to make noise...

Inside Shunt you can walk around and try different spaces until you feel you got the right one!

It is tricky to find the venue- kind of inside London bridge tube without any big sign outside.

Shunt has now become a club and there usually a huge queue outside, if you want to get in come around 8ish.

Here is an event I saw there:

Cosy and beautiful place. You can get the pre-theatre menu if you want to pay less than £20. sometimes on Mondays they have accordion player which adds to the atmosphere!

The service was great each time I have been there but the food is often just ok. I would say it is a worth a visit as a pre-theater meal because of the atmosphere.

I have so many good things to say about this place.
First their story which can be read at the loos: 2 students who were searching for cheap and healthy food, which will still leave some change for the bar...
They decided that hummus is not just a side dish and it should get a proper stage of its own... On the tables you can see illustration explaining what are the different ways to 'wipe' the hummus with the pita bread. The interiors are ‘soho trendy’ but in here it actually works because of the context-
you are not used to see hummus glorified in a stylish surroundings.
The staff are (especially the owners) an example of what service should be. They are so friendly and will be happy to speak with you. My favourite (although I am conservative here) is the hummus with Fava beans. The hummus itself is smooth and delicious, no mistakes are made...
The aubergine salad with Tahini is also recommended. Try the Alow Vera juice if you feel like something new and don't skip the Malabi dessert. the coffee is great as well so espresso will make you even happier. Hummus bros has now another branch close to Holborn tube. It is a truly great place!
Give peas a chance!

This place looks like someone decided to rob all sort of artworks from all over the globe
and bring it under one roof... There are giant vases, huge mirror ball and fake disco deer's heads, massive chandelier and one big hippo head... very eclectic. The staff is helpful but pretentious, the type which makes you feel that they know much more than you about anything and that you should feel lucky to be seating there. Another funny thing was that we were there just before closing and the waiter went from table to table asking if to order us a cab... Probably most of the people sitting in this place are used to moving from one place to another in this way...
Anyhow, the cocktails were very good. I have to admit I prefer friendly places.

On my last visit, we put our bags in their lockers and only later discovered that one of the bags was moved to the nearby toilette because they were running out of space! That was quite shocking!

I really like the Arches wine bar. It is very cosy place with a nice selection of wine. The decor is very eclectic which makes this place very unique. They sometimes host live shows and also serve breakfasts:

Le Relais De Venise
London | French Restaurants
Save your soul!

I have been there with friends in December 2010.
I was looking for a steak restaurant and came across this one via Timeout.

This place is a complete waste of your money & time.
We had to wait outside for about 25 minutes in pretty cold weather. 'It must be worth the wait' we thought to ourselves.

A guy in front of us got tired of waiting and asked the waiter to come outside to see how many people are waiting so she can tell the manager. 'It is too cold outside' she told him...

We finally arrived to our table. Le Relais De Venise definetly lacks atmosphere and the tables were so close to each other that the person next to us had to move when we wanted to get out. The waiters looked overly stressed and it seemed that they hate working in there.

When we ordered, one member of our party was rebuffed when they requested Medium-Well and found out that they only serve Rare, Medium or Well...
We were still hoping that the food will make this worthwhile.

Few minutes later, and quite quick to be fair, the food arrived to our table. It contained a steak already cut to pieces (everything is designed to make you leave as quick as possible), and fries.

Just to make it more interesting, I asked for Mayo and got a negative reply from the waiter who probably thought it was a non legitimate request.

The food was digestible but not worth the wait. The 'secret' steak sauce tasted quite weird and seemed overladen with vinegar. We also had an average wine which matched our food very well...

Another strange thing in this place is that you get 2 plates. You get the first plate and when you are done the waiter brings you extra steak and chips. Nobody tells you this at the beginning so when we saw our first plate we were quite worried about the portion size.

We then got the dessert menu (picture attached).
Some items were marked with a red line and some with blue. We asked the waiter what was this color coding about and she said she was puzzled by it herself and many people asked her about the same thing.

From our table, we still could see the long queue of people outside. I tried to save some by typing 'It is not worth the wait' on my phone and putting it close to the window. Some people noticed it, had a laugh and still stayed in line...

We had enough and asked for the bill. All we had was a salad, steak, dessert, wine and water. We paid £37 pounds each which was insane compared with what we got.

There are plenty of good steak restaurants in London such as Hawksmoor, Buen Ayre, SOS and many others. This one is not deserved to be on the map.
