Small Local
2
This local Sainsbury’s is opposite the Odeon cinema nearer the top end of Streatham High road. It has bus stops outside and a cash machine and fills in the gap of being a quick place to stop off if you want a pint of milk or a loaf of bread.
This serves the surrounding residential area and of course you can combine it with any of the other shops you may want to visit on the High Road.
It’s handy this way and although there is no other major supermarket chain nearby, there is a Lidl and an Iceland and these have more diversity and variety, something this small local cannot really compete with.
Unless you like the Sainsbury’s products themselves or going to other shops is more of a hassle (or further away from where you live) and if you are just popping into to buy a top up product, then you are better of leaving a main shopping trip for a larger supermarket or one of the other further along the High Road, a couple (mentioned above) are quite close to this local actually.

Offers galore

This Iceland is near the crossroads nearer the top half of the long Streatham High Road. It is literally opposite the Streatham Tate library and is of medium size and packs a variety of products throughout the shop.
There are always offers on and they have good deals on these and they actually stock a little of everything from fridge items, to cakes, biscuits, drinks, sweets, crisps and of course a large section of frozen items.
You can pick up some good offers here and they have trolleys and baskets and nice large bags for some of the large items they sell.
The cashiers can get busy, but you usually don’t have to wait too long in these.
I would say it is much better to get frozen deals from here generally speaking as they work out more for less, some of the prices are very good indeed and then with offers can be better and this includes non frozen items.
A great place top shop, though the aisles can be a little narrow, but this means they pack more in. Well worth a visit if you are shopping for groceries this side of the High Road.

A nice wide shop front
5
This is your local fish and chip shop and a lot more and is well lit and well situated at a bus stop (the opposite stop across the road) and almost next door to Tooting Bec tube station.
This means although it is in a more residential area of Tooting, it gets the passing trade of commuters using the bus and tube and is frequented by many people dropping in to pick up something to eat.
Its shop front is long and well lit and plenty of room to stand and wait for your order which does not take too long, unless it gets real busy and I have never seen it so.
This is a great place to pick up something to eat amongst the few shops here and very little alternative of a fast food outlet.
If you have a lot of shopping and can’t use a bus, there is even a taxi cab firm a few doors away you can use.
A popular and well situated place and worth a visit is you want to eat out locally or pick up something to eat, or if you are just passing to use public transport.

A larger pizza chain in Norbury
4
This Pizza Hut in Norbury is quite large actually and does good pizzas and has lots of tables. It serves as main focus for a pizza restaurant and is well seen from the High Street.
You can get take away of course or eat it in and as there are more chicken and fish shops around and not so many pizza alternatives locally or as big, this is a quality place to visit if you both like pizzas and a Pizza hut (or the reliability of a larger chain pizza restaurant).
As the main road is outside you would have to park on a surrounding side road unless you were out of peak hours and just picking up a pizza, otherwise if you live locally in Norbury then you can walk here.
With the credit crunch and more people buying fast food instead of eating more expensive restaurant food, this pizza place should see an increase in traffic. When it gets busy it can get crowded.
