Poorly kept ill and dead fish in dirty tanks with seemingly uncaring staff. Shocking

We travelled a long way today (1hr+return) to stock our cold water tank, having checked stock etc with the shop and being told to bring a water sample so they can ensure the fish are going to a good tank. It was a shock to arrive and find only 2 indoor cold tanks with healthy fish in! The tanks in general were dirty, fish were ill and even dead in the others, it continued out in the pond section, though not quite so bad still contained dead and ill fish. The 'fish man' , unbelievably looking into the tanks we were concerned about and walking away, leaving the dead in there! One even had a very well decayed dojo loach in. Shockingly bad, poorly kept fish. We will never return and would never recommend. Worst we've seen in a long in.

Hi Zoe We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with your recent visit. We do appreciate your concern. I would like to assure you that our staff do care very much about fish in our care, and tend to them regularly - checking for any health problems, plus adhering to a strict cleaning schedule. We have a 5 star pet licence for upholding high standards of fish care. When you visited, the assistant you spoke to was serving at the time. As soon as he had finished serving you had already left, but he immediately checked all tanks and pond fish and didn’t find any ill fish. The Ranchu you were looking at do not have a dorsal fin (as you may already know), so if the lack of fins were of concern, we can assure you this is normal. We do apologise if you felt that your issues were not being dealt with at the time, and we do hope you are now re-assured that we do take the welfare of our fish very seriously, and would never sell unfit fish to customers.
