This is by far the nicest place you could possibly stay in England. The food is spectacular, the building itself is warm and inviting, the multimillion pound investment in a new spa area was worth the money. The grounds are beautiful and it's just a stone throw away from Kezwick. I cannot fault this hotel, and I go every year.
No clue how this is only a four star establishment.

What can I say? It was a perfectly nice place to dine out and the prices weren't extortionate. It's a friendly atmosphere, the waitresses and waiters are particularly chatty and are eager to satisfy customers.
The food was generally very good, especially the killer tomato garlic bread starter, which is a must to order if you do go.
I would recommend you to try something other than their margarita pizzas as they is far too much cheese for me and too little tomato. The base is wonderful but as I said, all that cheese makes it difficult to finish and makes it taste a little bit too processed. You may notice I only gave the ambience on a 3 stars, but that is only because it is no different from dining at a pizza hut. Pretty noisy, couple of wailing kids but I suppose you find that in every restaurant nowadays. All in all a nice place to eat out for a change.
Next time I go I will probably choose something from their speciality menu, as they seem to offer more than just italian themed meals.
