Problem diagnosed and problem solved on a Mercedes E350 cdi

Problem was my Mercedes E350 cdi would not wake up and start following insertion of the key.
I found AC Auto locksmiths using google and chose them to contact as they were a family business and have been around for over ten years. It was Anthony who I spoke to who put my mind at rest having solved this issue many times before. We discussed a way forward which would not break the bank in that my mechanic removed the steering column and electronic steering lock before he came out to check out the electronic ignition system and introduce an emulator in place of the lock.
Within days I was back to him and Anthony came out the following day arriving on time.
The system was checked, the lock dispensed with and an emulator was introduced and programmed to suit my car. Result turn the key and the vehicle came alive. This is a common issue with Mercedes before 2012. All we have to do now is rebuild the steering column.
