A tall oak stands about ten paces from my house. With the very strong winds that we have had of late and with the coming summer growth of branches and leaves, this oak could come crashing down on the house. The tree is situated in a Conservation Area. So it was particularly important that the work proposed and the wording describing it were acceptable to the District Tree Officer and Planning Committee. In this situation, Adrian's experience and knowledge were invaluable. He proposed a way of keeping the tree's shape but at the same time much reducing the resistance that it would offer the wind. He also gave me a formula of wording that would be acceptable to the authorities. He is well known to, and respected by, the District Council staff concerned, and this helped to ensure that the proposals were approved in advance of the formal Committee meeting.
