Having received a gift voucher for Christmas for afternoon tea we decided to utilise this yesterday. The lounge itself is lacking in furniture but we did manage to find a table right at the back of the lounge and took a seat. After several minutes nobody had been to see us so I went into the bar to find someone. A very pleasant lady (Lilliana?) took my voucher off me when I placed my order with her and said she would put the order through. She then brought us our tea a few minutes later. Around 10 minutes later our food arrived by which time we had just about finished all our tea. The food was pretty terrible. Close to stale bread, shop bought cakes and shop bought scones. At no point did anyone check back on us and offer more tea etc. We left feeling very, very disappointed. I was General Manager at this hotel 16 years ago and back then you couldn't move on a Saturday afternoon in that lounge/bar for people taking afternoon tea and everything was made on site. Very poor show.
