This is a genuine review for work undertaken in December 2022 by Alyson Lawrence.
We had a consultation with Alyson Lawrence of Painting Restorations in London about a late 1700’s oil painting. The paint surface was dirty with a discoloured varnish, showing evidence of wear throughout and some scattered surface scuff marks. There was also evidence of a more concentrated retouching to a repaired damage in the background. The original frame was in a poor condition, with flaking paint and damage throughout, including numerous holes and gaps in the corners.
Alyson examined the painting, and with a quick smile said she was happy to take on the job to clean and restore it. The painting is now back home, and we are delighted with the results and the frame has been reinstated to its former glory.
