Excellent Food, Outstanding Service!

My family and I frequented this establishment on a Thursday night around 7.30pm on our first visit to the town. We feared that a table would be difficult to find due to the football, but our needs were taken care of by a friendly member of staff who also found an easily accessible table to accomodate my wife's bad leg.
First, the atmosphere. It appears as though the Griffin attracts a wide variety of locals, which contributed to a warm, friendly, down to earth atmosphere. The fireplaces and relics of the past dotted around the place really gave it a comfortable feel.
Secondly, the food; delicious! For a mid-week, affordable meal, my family and I could do little better. I had the blue cheese and mushroom sirloin, cooked just right, whilst my wife had the chicken and leek pie, also a highlight. My only complaint was whilst ordering desserts, I was told of the 2 for 1 offer, which really sent me into a food coma.
The service here is second to non; friendly, accommodating and quick...will definitely visit again next time we are in March.
