Extremely expensive for older vehicles.

I recently took my car in for a replacement CV joint the bread and butter of any garage. Was quoted roughly 35% higher price than the average offered by competition , but opted to go to Japex based on customer reviews.
Halfway through the repair I get a call stating that it’s being difficult and that they’ll charge an extra hour on top of the quote. Fair enough until you realise this lot value their time at £72 an hour! Ridiculous. (A further 35% on top of my quoted price) to further emphasise how ridiculous their hourly rate is - they’d come in at ~£150k a year , that’s the same as the prime minister!
I can’t fault their expertise or professionalism however, but for anything other than newer cars I’d definitely recommend taking your custom elsewhere to a fairer priced garage They use genuine parts from the manufacturers so that’s great for new cars, but not so much for my 20 year old runabout, where the part will far outlive the useful mileage of the car.
