Good, swift service

Left a message on a Friday and was contacted almost immediately same day and booked in for the next week.

Friendly service from a nice bloke who was happy to answer any queries and pointed out which flue was which from outside in case we needed to know for the future. Price was good too. Would recommend.

I won't give a 1 star review because this isn't related to the haircuts. I'm prompted to write this by my 3rd frustrating experience with them.

If you're about to go on lunch then why not say to the people queuing or coming in the door so they know. If a haircut lasts roughly 30mins then someone who has opted to come by on their lunch break from work will basically be on a short time frame. I'm OK with this, and I appreciate everyone needs to take a break but it's just frustrating to sit for 10mins+ in a short queue with 2 hairdressers on, assuming you're going to get a haircut only for one of the hairdressers to then tell you they're on lunch as soon as you stand up.

The previous times this has happened I had been waiting longer and wasted a lunch break. I don't think I'll bother going again. It's not that hard for other barbers/hairdressers in the area to do - why is it an issue here?

Probably OK for a drink, but avoid for dinner

As other reviews have stated this establishment has a great location in Caversham and would probably be an "ok" place to have a drink.

I took my girlfriend for her birthday earlier this month and almost immediately was struck by how empty it was. After half an hour once I'd ordered food and drinks I knew exactly why.

To start with the member of staff serving us, whilst perfectly friendly, was clueless, couldn't take orders correctly, didn't know the drinks stocked and wasn't very proactive. We were the only table in the restaurant and I had to practically stand up and wave to get her attention. The other staff ignored us.

The food wasn't great. We both had the chicken liver parfait to start and to my palate it tasted like cheap meat paste. It came with a salad that was average and some onion marmalade as well as what I believe was part of a record attempt to minaturise a baguette. Given the amount of "meat paste" given this tiny cyclindrical roll was not nearly enough and when we asked almost immediately for more bread, it took 20mins to appear.

The mains were a mixed bag. My girlfriend had Moules Marinier and she had trouble finding a mussel shell that actually had a mussel in it. Other than that she said it was pretty good. It was supposed to come with bread which again arrived late (presumably because they were struggling to find a small enough roll). Bizarrely when delivered the member of staff asked if she'd like some butter then showed up with essentially 10 of those butter pats.

I opted for a chicken burger and was disappointed immediately having asked for mayo and being given BBQ sauce. I mentioned this and it was brought back looking more or less like they'd wiped it off and neglected to add mayo. The chicken was dry, the bun looked like a normal fast food bun and the chips were overly greasy.

I don't normally go out expecting perfection but this put a bit of a downer on the evening. Especially when we would have had a better time going to a chain restaurant.
