Went here for my 40th birthday while on a trip down to Sheffield from Edinburgh.

Food - well cooked, tasty and good choice.

Drink - had a watermelon vodka cocktail - fab!!
House champagne was good too!

Service - quite attentive - one problem was they didn't clear our table of empty glasses and the table was quite full - especially as we had champagne and wine.

Bill - we checked our bill at the end of the night, only because the table next to us had had a problem with theirs. We found that we had been overcharged for an extra main course, we were told they had a problem with their till but if this was the case shouldn't someone be double checking the bill before given to customers?

Nice touch - we were given a shot glass with teeny spoons, which contained a dessert and not a drink.

Overall worth a visit - but check your bill!!

Have been to this bar/restaurant on many occasions since it opened, however lately it seems to have got better. I don't know if it has changed hands but it just seems to be a bit slicker if you know what I mean. You no longer have to order at the bar - its now waitress service. There is both a standard menu and specials menu which are changed on a regular basis. I most recently ate there on Sunday at lunchtime and the food was excellent. The Sunday lunches are enormous! My daughter commented that it was the best mashed potato she had every tasted!

In the winter they have wood fires burning and candles lit at each table. My partner says it feels like your in someone's living room rather than a restuarant.
