I supplied all parts for the job (belt, tensioner, alternator pulley). The mechanic quoted £50 labour on the phone for an Audi auxiliary belt replacement.

During the job it became clear he was unfamiliar with Audi/VAG procedure. The work was rushed, I had to guide parts of the process, and excessive force was used on a brand-new belt tensioner (spanner with a long extension bar). As a result, the new tensioner developed noticeable play/wobble and the repair could not be completed. The car was left undriveable.

I was then told the tensioner was “faulty,” despite the damage only appearing after it was forced. To avoid escalation on a Friday, I paid £80 for labour even though the job was not completed and a new part had been damaged.

I am now forced to buy another tensioner and pay for the entire job again at a proper garage.

I would not recommend this mechanic for Audi or similar vehicles. Incorrect technique and lack of experience caused unnecessary damage and cost.
