Country Pursuits
Rickmansworth | Gun Shops
Small, but perfectly formed (shop, not the proprietor)

The establishment is easy to find. Inside it feels compact, reminiscent of Aladdin's cave, because it is filled to the brim with goodies, needed in pursuit of your chosen country sport. The shop has great atmosphere, friendly service and keen pricing policy.

All in past

The "can do list" was endless, but it is no more. The Massimo was a bakery, patisserie and a half decent little coffee shop, that I visited frequently. The Portughese owner and the staff (family members) spoke good English ... and their pastries selection and coffee were actually very good. But the ownership has changed, the bakery is gone .... and what replaced it is a poorly run and poorly stocked up Deli.

Used to be good coffee shop.

What used to be a bakery / patisserie and coffee shop, run by a friendly Portughese, English speaking staff... is now poorly run (irregular opening hours), Portughese only Diner. The bakery is long gone, so what's on offer is Tesco sourced pastries and sandwiches ... served by Portughese only speaking staff. Currently ... the place is closed for refurbishment?

Poor

Currently a very basic Portughese coffee shop / snack bar. No atmosphere, no English speaking staff, poor food selection. The original Massimo used to be a bakery / patisserie and coffee shop ... and the regular coffee and Portughese speciality pastries were good. The staff and owner were friendly ... but the place got bust and new Portughese owners

Very poor

Probably the worse Chinese food that I ever had. If you can imagine a Greek cooking Chinese food from the Indian recipe. It was a non descript mishmash of greasy noodles with the heavy curry flavour ... that was described as Singapore noodles. The waitress was ?Indian? without even basic knowledge of English. Thinking back ... a Greek cooking Chinese food from Indian recipe would probably be more successful. The food was rubbish, the service was non existent, despite it being lunchtime and the place was buzzing with 2 other guests around.

Poor food bad service they can't even clean table with breaking something. They can't speak English I was told by member of staff that works there long hours. 12 to 13 hours a day I know because I have been told staff are treated very bad. And all 7 staff live in two rooms a cross road at number 3. They treated like slaves. They eat same food everyday don't get any time off only one day. Monday I know a few things about this restaurant I won't be going back. I have reported this restaurant and is now under investigation? By immigration

Best Indian around

The Hatch End Tandoori / Coriander have served some of the best known Indian food for at least 35 years now. Going for dinner there, we used to say "we are going for English" tonight. I am glad that the place is still there .. and I'm glad that food is still good.

Good Italian food
4
Expensive, but good. Has been there for a while now, although I remember their past glory, when they resided on the opposite side of the Uxbridge road. The food is good as is the service and friendly banter. Their cream cakes are dream and the gelato is excellent. I have marked them down only because every time I go there, they are rebuilding something in the place, so there is always some banging around. Otherwise it the best authentic Italian restaurant in the area.

Used to be good

Long ago, this used to be my favourite Italian restaurant in the area. I haven't been there for a while, so I was pleasantly surprised, when I visited recently, to see that they still make the good food. Quite expensive though and the portions are adequate rather than good.

Deli / Diner

Slightly reminiscent of the Brooklin Deli. I had a portion of saltbeef ... nothing to write home to your mom about. Plus the guy behind the counter charged me for extras, that I haven't had. No atmosphere and the place was empty ...

Used to be great.

This used to be a best restaurant (steak, fish, deserts, you name it) the area by far in eighties and nineties. I have wondered in recently, rather hoping that descendants of the original owner still rule the roost. They don't and it isn't. It has changed considerably. Not worth the visit.
