At long last I have found the best fish and chip shop in this area (Birtley). If you want quality fish, which is genuinely cod and haddock, with lovely chips go no further than York Road. Quick and friendly service.
I highly recommend you try for yourself.

If you want good quality fish and chips you must buy from this fish & chip shop. The fish is chunky, white and very tasteful. The ladies serving are very pleasant. I have tried many places, even out of the area and have not found anyone who can beat this shop.
