The Funky Budda is a lively but small bar tucked away in a corner of student-land Cathays. If you’re in the area it’s well worth visiting for a pre-meal drink, or you could always eat here. There’s only a small menu, but from what I’ve tasted it’s well prepared and presented, plus you get a huge portion. The food, and especially the drinks, are very pricey. The latter are all imported lager such as Nastro Azzuro (excuse my spelling) and cost about £4 a pint, so order halves if you want to avoid a heart attack. Good music adds to the laid-back atmosphere, and although it gets a bit noisy it’s possible to hold a two-way conversation without shouting.
