Are propane generators quieter than gas?

Propane generators are quieter than gas generators but do still make a noise. The reason that propane generators are quieter is because they are cleaner burning and more fuel efficient. However, no generator is entirely silent so there will always be some kind of noise no matter what type of generator you choose.

What fuel do generators use?

Generators can be powered by a whole host of different fuels but usually only one fuel per unit, although some newer models do allow for the switching of fuel types. The most common fuel types used for generators are petrol, diesel, propane, natural gas or solar energy through a panel either on or attached to the generator.

Do generators need oil?

Generators powered by oil need supplies of oil to be topped up regularly in order to keep functioning. The most common oil found in generators is SAE 30, SAE 5W-30 and SAE 10W-30. Exactly what type of oil a generator needs will be stipulated either with its packaging or in its instruction manual. You should never fill a generator with oil before checking the correct type required as this could cause product failure and safety issues.
