A great restaurant

I have been going to Zest regularly for years and it’s my favourite place to go. The staff are always friendly, professional and helpful. The food is always piping hot. I can’t recommend it too highly

A google search on Zest reviews leads you firstly to another website that only publishes reviews with the restaurants approval. No wonder they are all positive! My experience was not good. A flash website & interior décor did not match up to the quality of the food or service. I visited on a Friday and I admit it was very busy. The atmosphere was completely unlike a traditional Indian restaurant, garish & very noisy due mainly to the loud pop music blasting out that forced people to shout to each other to be heard. I waited half a hour for popadom’s & by the time my ‘separate’? salad garnish came for the onion Bahia I had eaten them otherwise they would have been cold. My main course of Tandoori grill consisted of tough dried out meats including the chicken that had been hammered flat to make it look bigger, the lamb chop thin dry & band sawed from the frozen rack. Naan bread the size or a pancake and cut into 4 & served in a small breadbasket was my biggest disappointment. The curry was reasonable but the small portion rice had been kept warm somewhere and so was dry. The restaurant used to be a Little Chef and is now seems a Indian version of the same as far as quality & value are concerned as everything was expensive in relation to the size of the portions. If you must go avoid weekends unless you actually enjoy a busy canteen experience.
