Simba had to be taken into hospital care because they ignored and milked us for 4 consultations during 2 months. We paid close to 3000 to this vet so far even though the solution was just giving him some antibiotics. When we asked them to flag the hospital care as an emergency, so we can claim it from the insurance, they downplayed the urgency so we'll have to pick up the bill ourselves. When you spend close to 3000, the least you would expect is to be treated friendly and with respect, but most of the time we have been treated unkind and even judgemental / I hope your experience is better than ours! 😤

Dear Sorya, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. While I am disappointed you are unhappy, your review has given me the opportunity to re-examine Simba’s care. I know the team at Wolfe Vets is full of gentle people, passionate about caring for animals, highly expert and dedicated to modern medicine. The people involved in caring for Simba are devastated by the review. Because you have made statements on a public forum with factual inaccuracies I would like to comment and correct them in order to avoid reputational damage. I will also make a comment on pet insurance. I will then respond to the email that you sent the clinic after you had left reviews online. Simba was first presented to our hospital with gastro-intestinal symptoms on 6th June, just over 3 weeks ago, not 2 months. We managed him as we do many patients and started medication to resolve his symptoms while waiting on you to submit a stool sample to guide therapy, we requested you start collecting that sample on 8th June, at your second consultation, at which he also underwent a blood test as it was reported that his appetite was markedly reduced. That stool sample was not submitted until 22nd June. This care and follow up does not qualify as neglect on Wolfe Vet’s part. During a telephone check up on 9th June we advised that you bring Simba for further testing and treatment if he was not better. 19 days later, on 28th June, you brought him into the clinic first thing in the morning requesting him to be hospitalised. We kept you informed on costs and obtained informed consent for treatment. Simba did not have a simple £50 problem. The amount you have paid the clinic is well below the amount you claim above. Pet Insurance is a vital resource for most pet owners. There is an awful lot that we can achieve with modern medicine. However, modern medicine used correctly can also require a high equipment and staff cost and so the costs to pet owners are significant as a result. Most pet insurance has a 2-4 week moratorium, whereby they will not cover new illnesses that start during the first 2-4 weeks of a policy, in case that illness was actually present before the policy started. For that reason, it is often a good idea to take out insurance even before one collects a pet, so the 2-4 weeks is already rolling. Most insurers will only cover accidents and trauma during the moratorium period. Gastro-intestinal signs do not qualify as an accident or trauma. I understand your insurance not to have opened up to illnesses on the relevant dates, which I anticipate will be an issue when making a claim. I obviously hope that is not the case. I would much prefer people have the safety net of insurance. We are happy to process any claim. We charge no fee and spend time every day helping owners understand what they can and are unlikely to be able to claim. The final decision on whether to pay out rests entirely with the insurer, no matter what we tell them. They base their decisions on their terms & conditions and the full medical history. I wish we had the power to decide on the insurer’s behalf. We are very happy to process Simba’s insurance claim ready for your insurers to assess. I hope that my explanations help clarify things and give you a little peace of mind. J. Bennett.

A love-filled business

Every single person working at Wolfe Vets is glorious. They are kind, polite and informative. My dog is obsessed with the place and makes us say hello every time we walk past! There is nothing that this business could do to improve. They are amazing.

Excellent veterinary care and kindness

5
We brought our dog Rufus to Wolfe Vets when the practice opened last year and we are so thankful that we did. The pre-payment plan for routine visits, treatment discounts and worming etc is useful but what we are most grateful for is that James and his team of vets, nurses and support staff helped us through an incredibly difficult few months recently. Rufus became very ill and the care, diligence, professionalism and kindness of every single person that looked after him at Wolfe Vets saved his life. Not only did he get the very best medical attention, but he was loved and looked after throughout as though he was their own. The efficiency of the whole team meant that he was seen promptly throughout treatment and that even the process of sorting out the insurance was taken out of our hands at a very upsetting time. Outside of visits, reassurance was only ever a phone call away at any time of day and night. A fantastic team with the best facilities and most importantly, a kind heart.

Such a nice vets! I got a new kitten in the summer and have been quite a few times over the past few months, each time James and his team have been really kind, friendly and welcoming, turning what can be quite a stressful ordeal into a really pleasant experience.
