4Special occasions:
Birthdays: Good range of birthday cakes, standard designs or made to order. For example all kinds for kids, such as a pirate cake (see my picture above), a white chocolate cake (see my picture above) and for adults playing cards (see my picture above), Price was about £12 and up for a cake in March 2009.
Easter 2009 their magazine and catalogues and brochures show goodies such as design your own easter egg which children and creative adults would love. Again, great for birthdays.
Very short on stationery but you are next door to the Discount store which has stationery and toys; Homebase for flowers, furniture, electrical and garden goods is on the other side of Waitrose.
Waitrose and John Lewis are linked. Signs remind you that the store is a co-operative owned by employees which accounts for the cheerful and helpful service. Other signs tell you that they introduced the concept of bag for life.
On the wall are a public phone and a phone for a cab company to get you home. The car park allows a two hour stay.
