Business overview
Upper Moreton Rural Activities CIC aims to improve the lives of vulnerable people regardless of their need or ability, to gain new skills, confidence and independence.
Day Opportunity Service at Upper Moreton Rural Activities (UMRA)
Upper Moreton Rural Activities provides supported day opportunities for individuals with learning disabilities/difficulties where activities are person-centred planned for the individual. Activities are based around animal care, Equine Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT), horticulture, conservation and countryside related crafts/arts, healthy eating and cooking, life skills and team working. Individuals are able to access further learning/recreational opportunities through partnership working with other professional organisations.
Funded Projects/Courses:
For individuals who may be experiencing poor mental health wellbeing/anxiety needs, UMRA can offer funded courses to encourage engagement and progression opportunities. To qualify individuals must be in receipt of benefits.
We aim to empower people to learn, give the necessary support to make people feel ‘safe’ in their learning environment, raise people’s aspirations and promote learning skills (including English/maths/ICT) and to encourage personal responsibility, independence and community engagement. Importantly to make learning enjoyable.
We are situated in a peaceful tranquil setting with good access routes, including public transport/own mini bus service. We are a grassland farm with a range of farm animals and offers two working sites. We have beautiful rare breed Gloucester cattle, as well as sheep, goats, pigs and poultry. We are well known for our work with Equine and Dog Assisted Therapy, having ten donkeys, a Shire horse and three well behaved dogs and not forgetting Leo a registered therapy dog.
UMRA has a fully equipped classroom, kitchen, art room, established garden with polytunnel, outbuildings, wildlife pools and numerous countryside walks. We can offer activities all the year round.
We work with small group numbers with experienced fully qualified tutors and a dedicated team of volunteers.
