poor returns policy

Bought 17 tiles too many from rotherham branch due to change of plans, was told over phone can refund - took them into store then told no because they weren't in stock at the time of purchase. I could understand it if they were special order and were made to my own spec etc but they were only out of stock, so if i had gone to a bigger branch where they were in stock i could have had a refund. Need to take a leaf out of other stores books B&Q etc with their no quibble refund policies. Was offered a credit note but what use would it be as i wont shop there again anyway.
