Watch Repairs Nottingham

The WATCH Lab is a family business run by brothers Jonathan and Jeremy Barker. Since opening its first branch in Liverpool October 2000, the company employed a Rolex Accredited Watchmaker to set the standards for all watch repairs. It has grown to a multi-site national company opening its 10th branch in 2013. They have accounts with virtually all watch brands and Head Office Accreditation from Omega, Longines, Rado, Tissot plus numerous others. The Watch Lab repaired in excess of 1.5 million watches in their first 10 years and is now established as the UK jewellery trades first place to turn to for ‘Quality Watch Repairs’.

I had a ceramic watch with a missing pin took it to most watch places and they did not want to touch it or couldn’t help. Liam was really helpful and managed to sort this. Will definitely recommend taking my watches back here again. 😀

Misleading or a con?

1
Took my watch in to Nottingham branch to have the battery replaced. Price was £39.99 because it would also have to be re-sealed to maintain the water resistance. Expensive but I felt acceptable to prevent damage to my watch. When I collected my watch I noticed that the guarantee specifically stated NOT water resistant. When I challenged this I was fed a load of rubbish about how the watch could not be guaranteed for water resistance because it may be subjected to higher pressures such as a power shower. My watch is rated by the manufacturer as water resistant to 50m. The water pressure at 50m is approximately 50BAR - that's roughly 750 psi. Quite a power shower then!
Watch Lab - firstly don't be dishonest, secondly don't try to con a consultant engineer.

Would I go back? NO

Would I recommend? NO

More damage than good!

I paid to have my watch (which my late father gave me) serviced and battery replaced by the watch lab. Within three weeks of getting the watch back, the crown fell out without me noticing. I took the watch back to the watch lab and was informed that the crown had snapped. The gentlemen working behind the counter told me that they couldn't have caused the damage because they wouldn't have even touched the crown during the work that was carried out. This was a blatant lie becuase they would have had to touch the crown to change the date and time (something that they did do). I've had the watch 6 years and never had any fault with the crown, but now all of a sudden within a few weeks of the watch lab having it, it has broken. This could be a coincidence but i find that very unlikley. I'm now faced with a costly repair which I believe the watch lab is at fault for. I will not be using them again, and I would discourage anyone from using this shop.

Expensive mistake

1
Having paid for a new battery and clean, I found that the watch stopped well within the guarantee period. I took the watch back only to be told that the clean was only for the bracelet and the watch needed an expensive service (the cost of which could be reduced, as I had already had the bracelet cleaned). It was still expensive! The implied internal clean hadn't been done and the price paid was very high only cleaning the bracelet. However, the only issue with the watch was a bit of corrosion of the battery contacts. I took the watch home and gently scraped the contacts clean, put the battery back, and it is working perfectly again. Moral of the story - don't fall for the flashy talk and glossy premises. You could also make an expensive mistake. The 2 groups of people in front of me were also having problems with the service and work.
