The Sewing Shop is a well established company that has built up an enviable reputation over the last 20 years. We pride ourselves on our commitment to provide a professional and speedy service at all times, whilst maintaining the highest quality of work.

We offer clothing alterations from trouser shortening to zip replacement, to curtain shortening, with a one week turn around. Evening gowns, prom dress and bridal gowns usually within two weeks. All with free fitting service in our shop.

Our expert team are friendly and approachable to discuss any of your questions and projects.

Excellent all round and a pleasure to deal with

I have used the Sewing Shop on 4 occasions now. Surely that must tell you about the courtesy, professionalism and quality work.I recently took in my leather coat to have the sleeves shortened by a good 4 inches. Having picked up the coat 5 days later i was honestly amazed at the finished product which looks as if it had never been altered---which it was. The entire staff were very helpful and honest with their opinions as to how they could carry out the alterations. On collecting the coat the seamstress explained it had been more difficult than anticipated but they were determined to complete the job as described. The finished article was completed far beyond what I expected and I, without hesitation will endorse the quality of work as well as I stated earlier the consummate professionalism from all I dealt with. Many thanks to all for a job above and beyond expectations.

A beautiful shop with lots of wonderful fabrics, ribbons, buttons and all things haberdashery!
Helpful staff who know what they’re talking about ! Worth a visit.. highly recommend.

No pricing strategy

They don't seem to have a pricing strategy. Every time I go for 2 inches of machine stitching she says it's £10. I picked up an item this week but wasn't thrilled that I paid £10 for literally 2 inches of machine sewing and it wasn't that great. When I asked about shortening sundress straps she said £10 so I said well it's less than 2 inches of machine stitching I think £10 is too much. She said we'll probably £5. Therefore there is no pricing plan it depends on trying for a higher rate and reducing it if questioned. Won't be using them again!

Outstanding. I had 2 jackets for alterations and they had been “tailored” very poorly in Newport. The Sewing Shop did a superb job in unravelling the previous efforts and doing the job properly.
They are professional,reasonable and pleasant. Highly recommended. Jeff
