Lousy service and disappointing food for a FORMER regular
I've been visiting the Seafood Cafe on my annual or twice annual trips to St Ives pretty much since it opened.

The service and food has been sliding for a couple of years but if fell off a cliff more me today and I won't now return. Take it from me there are plenty of better restraunts in St Ives than this.

Staff were miserable, if you want carb light its very limited and my children were not offered a childs menu. If they cannot be bothered neither can I.

Freshly Fresh - Lovely Restaurant
This is a cracking restaurant, fresh local fish is displayed on the frozen counter for you to select before the cheif cooks it.

Simple, but great idea!

Seafood Cafe
The Seafood Café is located on one of the main (very narrow) streets in St Ives, a block back from the harbour. We had dinner there one evening on the recommendation of our hotel. As it was a Saturday night we booked a week or so in advance.

The restaurant has a fairly relaxed feel to it, helped by the fact that you go up to the fish counter to order your meal - basically there is a display cabinet of today's fresh fish, and you choose what type you would like, tell them how you want it cooked, it you want any sauce or crust, and then choose potatoes and other side dishes. They also have meat for the non-fish eaters. There is a blackboard menu with a range of starters too.

We started with a serve of Crispy Chilli Squid, which was served with lime aioli. Next we had the Halibut Steak, with some sort of crust, and some rocket mash; and the Lemon Sole with parmesan mash. The fresh fish was cooked just right. For dessert we shared the Sticky Toffee Pudding, which was a leaning-tower-like pudding, with a big pot of butterscotch sauce and clotted cream. I'm very glad we were sharing it as it was very rich.

sea food cafe
the sea food cafe on the main cobbled shopping street know as Fore Street in St Ives Cornwall i have tried over the last few years virtually everything on the menu and as yet not found a single thing that i disliked besides the expanding waist line that is of course!! opens for lunch and dinner clean bright and nautical very welcoming and excellent service givng absolutely excellent value for money especially in a high class resort like st ives

the starters and main courses are absolutely exquisite but the desserts are absolutely out of this world

freshly caught sea food cook freshly for you as you wait but also offer other meals from ciabattas to mackrel in beetroot

amazing choice on the menu priced reasonably out of this world views across the harbour of st ives

the hot chocolate fudge cake is an absolute must

lovely and comfortable inside children made very welcome alcoholic drinks as well as tea and coffee
