The Salvation Army Charity Shop

These people are heaven sent and do an amazing job in supporting vulnerable people of any description, no matter who you are. I never thought I would be as desperate as I was earlier this year - no money, no food and cooking appliance - despite working very hard in a full-time job. I didn't know where to turn and was pointed in their direction and will never forget their kindness, support, both practically and emotionally. I think a lot of their work goes unnoticed but they do it without wanting any reward or payment - they are just good, honest and kind souls who genuinely want to help. Thank you so much for all you did for me this year, I will never forget it. Without you people, you kindness and your ongoing support, I honestly don't know where I would have ended up. The world needs more people of your calibre and commitment. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sarah

I give to the Salvation Army as years ago I too encountered rudeness and a sofa was refused as it was the wrong colour! The staff in Birkenhead are lovely and if something cannot be sold they can make money from recycling. They do a great job.

I called up several charities when I had to clear my sister’s flat as she entered nursing care - some of them were plain rude at a time which was enormously stressful for me! The lady who came to the flat was kind, understanding & happy to receive the beds, furniture etc etc ... Since then I have always made a point of recycling clothes etc to the Birkenhead shop, altho’ it is not in my neighbourhood. Well done & thank you, Sally Army!
