Business overview

Red Lion Hunningham, Boozer By The River & That...

The Red Lion is a lovely country pub in rural Warwickshire between Leamington, Rugby and Coventry. It’s light and airy with stunning views of sheep, cows and a slightly over friendly river. We serve locally sourced food, cooked simply and honestly and around fifty wines, most of which are available by the glass; well kept cask ales and over 30 single malts. The décor is simple and cosy. Three, ever blazing, real fires are linked by stone & timber. There’s plenty of car parking and there is disabled access too, not to mention a huge beer garden that leads down to a 14th century bridge. I remember a time when pubs weren’t gastropubs or brasseries, they were just pubs that were good pubs with good food and that’s what I aspire to be.

Overpriced but only average... drinks are very expensive in fact double the cost... better value for money in long itchington or southam... and the owner has a bad attitude...

Excellent - never fails to please

The Red Lion at Hunningham is one of the nicest places that I have eaten at since moving to the area.

If your passing whilst walking the dogs or have a special occasion to celebrate, they are always there to make you feel special and welcome.

In the summer, a beautiful garden by the river welcomes you and in the winter glourious open fires entice you in!

The food is excellent - good choice without offering too much - uncomplicated, hearty and seasonal.

By far one of the best restaurants in this Area, and you can take your dog too!!

We love it!! :o)

Rave Review

Me and my Husband go here regularly and have fallen in love with the place. As soon as you step through the door you are greeted with the Manager, Sam, who is charming and friendly and makes you feel like an old friend.

We are so impressed by the place we even had our Christmas dinner there. The portion sizes are Huge although that is no complaint because it is so delicious you end up eating the whole plate- but feel rather stuffed.

The attention to detail is above and beyond your average "pub grub". I am a vegetarian and I can tell Sam takes great care in selecting new and original Veggie fare. The first time we discovered this place we tried the Veggie fish and chips, this was Stunning and something I had never ever come across before. Then there was the Cheese bread and butter pudding- Out of this world. Then on Christmas day we had nut roast- really tasty.

Even if you are not a Vegetarian I advise you to go and try either the Veggie fish and chips or the cheese bread and butter pudding; I promise you, you won't be disappointed.

Conclusion: Me and my Husband are quite hard to please, maybe after watching far too many cooking programs, but this is, by far, our Favorite place in the world. Go try their lovely food or just pop in and say hello to Sam!
