I thought the Queens Head was an excellent local pub and the Food and Service was brilliant!
Manager and staff are rude and unhelpful.
Not a pleasant experiance- avoid
I reccommend people eat somehere else that will appreciate the business
BUT the waitresses could do with a lesson in smiling and basic courtesy ! This is the first time in many years of using the Queens Head that I have ever known the staff to be so sulky, rude and un-welcoming. It put a bit of a damper on a celebratory meal for our Mum who is recovering from an op.
Come on girls ! we have just spent the best part of £100 on a Wednesday night - the least we should expect is manners. You are in the 'hospitality' trade you know.
The staff are very nice and friendly and helpful etc.
the decor is very nice and really is a proper traditional pub.
the only thing i do not like about the pub is the desserts, they come in a glass kind of cabinets and they do not tend to vary them that much and also they do not look very presentable. Although this is not really an issue as the main courses and starters totally make up for it.
Its also a nice little area to just go and have a drink, its quite quaint and romantic in some ways aswell and my husband and i have often stopped by for a drink.
We all had different meals (there were five of us in total) we had a bit of a wait for our meals, but we didn't have to wait too long really. The main meals were reasonably priced and all the meals were cooked to perfection.
Unfortunatley the drinks were slightly overpriced and the desserts started at £3.50, which would have been fine if the portions were decent sized, but they were actually quite small portions, so we didn't have dessert.
There is a small area in the bar where we played table skittles, this area is available for skittles and a buffet can be provided if your table skittles team wishes to use it.
Friendly, busy atmosphere, the restaurant was full, children are welcome (until I 9pm I think).
I would recommend this for a main meal, but not for the dessert as that was overpriced.
(There is also live music on a Wednesday night)
