Professional Unisex hairdressers for students and staff.

The Mop Sho was co-founded 12 years ago by brother and sister team Andy Deakin and Fiona Bench. It has always been located in Coventry University's Student union and recently moved in to The Hub Building. They offer a full range of hairdressing services including colouring, highlights, cutting and styling for both men and women.

Contrary to popular belief, The Mob Shop is not run by students nor does it train student hairdressers. It was opened to cater to the hairdresing needs of students and staff of Coventy Univeristy with prices that compete with even the cheapest barbershop. They offer a full consultation and after care advice to every customer along with a free hair wash on request.

The Mop shop has recently introduced a loyalty card, which will be available next time you visit the shop on request. The loyalty promotion requires you to present the loyalty card each time you have your hair cut at The Mop Shop - visit 3 times and you will get your 4th haircut half price.

While my hair has been perfect every time I’ve been here my partner has had the opposite issue, uneven application of bleach leaving spots of her dark hair in the blonde. I guess they struggle with certain colours and styles

Great value for money

I don’t really understand the bad reviews, but I appreciate everyone has different experiences. Personally, I’ve always found that the staff were very friendly and that they’ve always done an excellent job. They’ll even wash your hair so you don’t have to spend the rest of the day itching. I usually pay a little extra because I’m so happy with the haircut.

Cheap for a reason!

Considering most of the hairdressers supposedly have 10 +years of experience, I was appalled at how little they knew and their poor customer service. Not one was sure how to fit CLIP IN hair extensions. The staff were not overly friendly or customer-orientated. By this I mean instead of talking to the customers they would talk amongst themselves, making you feel extremely out of place. There was also another customer waiting for longer than expected to have her hair dye washed out. This is because they couldn't work out how to use my hair extensions, and my hairdresser made a comment that I should buy the other lady a drink for holding her up! After much struggle, my extensions were in and the same woman said "wow you have hair now!" I was disgusted. Despite the cost of the cut being cheaper than most, I felt being charged full price was a joke. The woman who served me simply put layers in the back of my hair and trimmed the ends. Never going back again!

I must admit I had some doubts about going there, reading the first two reviews from yell. I just came back from the mop shop. The hairdresser was really friendly, she listened to what I wanted and she delivered. My hair has never looked greater after a trip to the hairdressers! Recommended.

Worst experience ever

So I went today for a haircut, not my regular place to go but since I work at the university I thought I'd give it a go. Initially I was told £16 for a wet cut no blow dry (????) and I said fine. I went for my haircut and I told the lady I just want the ends cut, just a little tidier so my hair can be healthy again but not too much from length so we agreed on 1inch would be enough. 30 minutes later I left the shop with my hair soaking wet, about 5 inch shorter and I paid £18 as well. I was literally looking like a mop as the name of the shop suggest. All together I had a awful experience and I don't recommend any lady to cut their hair in this shop. Extremely unhappy.
