Very kind people! I asked whether they could punch holes in a belt and they happily did it free of charge, saved me having to buy a puncher myself. Thanks guys.

I went in to have my broken watch strap repaired. I said I wanted a stitch put in as I had already glued it and that had failed. The Cobbler suggested he first glue it then stitch, but also warned before proceeding that the machine was more used to dealing with larger thicker items and marking the leather was a possibility. I agreed to take the chance.
He finished the job, blackened the stitch so it matched the strap, and singed off the loose threads (a common technique). From viewing distance you wouldn't know the stitching was not fitted as standard: very neat and in keeping with the strap, with no marking on the leather.
Very pleased with the service and the price!

Have just had an old leather case brought back to life after the handle was replaced by a very helpful craftsman. Only left it for half an hour and it was sorted.
Shop looks well stocked with all polishes, shoe accessories and keys etc so will have to remember to return when I need to stock up.
Very satisfied customer

I am not that Merry after visiting the Merry Cobbler

The Merry Cobbler in Harborne, Birmingham, fitted a new black leather strap to my watch approximately three weeks ago. I returned to the shop today as the stitching was coming undone and the "clip" that holds the strap in place fell off yesterday.
Whilst the employee was friendly, the standard of what he thought was acceptable to the customer was poor. He attempted to sew the strap back together - a complete mess on both the front and back of the strap. After sewing, he then attempted to colour it black using the "buffer" used to shine shoes.
When I enquired about the replacement "clip", he informed me I must have lost it, to which I advised that it was still in my possession. He did fit another "clip" reluctantly but upon being advised that the bodge job on the strap was unacceptable, he fitted a new strap.
Rather than penny pinch in sewing the stitching on the strap, it would have been better customer service to replace immediately as I will never use the Merry Cobbler again.
