The Manor House

We've been here quite a few times and never been disappointed. Even when we've turned up without a booking the staff have managed to fit us in somewhere (somehow). The food is great and although a bit expensive is worth it. The menu changes regularly and tries to be seasonal - you know it's good when you have pigeon, in season, and you find actual shot in it. The beer is alwys good with plenty of local and interesting beers on draught as well as a good wine list. All in all I would recommend this place. In fact writing this review has got my mouth watering so I might head down there now ...

After finding a table, sitting down and having a couple of beers the food arrived and if I'm honest good quality ( maybe a little expensive for a burger and chips, but hey out with a couple of friends no problem) after we had all finished we were asked to leave the table as they had other people waiting to eat, the staff actually were reseting the table around us for the next customers - After spending £90.00 I've never been so insulted! The landlord came to speak to me and said " our 2 hrs was up and we needed to vacate the table!!!! I'll never step foot in the place again and unless YOU can be in & out within 2 hours I suggest you try a different restaurant where you not made to feel like nothing more than a meal ticket!

I would suggest you try the Hunting Lodge in Barrow Upon Soar were the food is just as good, better priced and friendlier staff.
