Great work by The Guitar Reapir Workshop

I tried the Guitar Repair Workshop for the first time this week - a fret dress and setup.
I've tried many guitar repair guys over the years, with the results going through the whole range of quality from basic setups to extensive repair work. Therefore, I have experienced good and bad guitar repair work over the years.
While there may be others out there who can produce the same quality of work, the Guitar Repair Workshop turned the work around in 2 and half hours. I have left instruments in the past with others for up to a month to have the same work done. To have the same work done in just 2 1/2 hours is amazing and no one wants to be parted from the instrument they play every day for any length of time.
I think this part of the service differentiates these guys from the others. In comparison, I emailed one guy to see if they could do the work and I still haven't had a reply. With the G.R.W., I booked in my bass online, then dropped it off for a few hours, a few days later.

Dropped 2 guitars off for a set up, one required fretwork. Superb service, brisk, courteous, and of the highest quality

Meh.

Didn't clean the guitars (as requested), did work on the bass without asking first. Put new strings on (as requested) but didn't bother tuning them. Not impressed for nearly £100.

I thought that my Guitar would be in safe hands due to them being an authorised Gibson repair centre. Upon collecting my Guitar I realised that I couldn't have been more wrong. They didn't put the right gauge strings on that I asked and then they argued with me that they were the right one's even though a Vernier caliper showed they were the wrong gauge. They argued that the Vernier is not accurate. They also appear to have botched it when removing the nut. There is a small part of the adjoining head stock that has also come away when removing the nut and I can see chisel marks in the fret board and a small nick in the fret board in between the nut and the 1st fret that looks like it could have been cause be a small saw and then covered up with a bit of brown paint. I feel very disappointed and wish that I had never set foot in the place and would recommend that Gibson does not endorse such an outfit.

TomT-118's review reflects an experience that is the absolute opposite to mine. I found the whole team in the Guitar Repair Workshop to be very friendly, approachable and keen to help. What follows is part of the review I posted on Google ... I had a pre-used Taylor T5z which failed to have any difference whatsoever between settings 1 and 2 for the 5-position switch. (Position 1 should have a more acoustic tone than any of the other 4 electric tones). Prior to taking it to the workshop, the internal acoustic body sensor made no effect whatsoever and never made itself known even if the body was tapped directly above it. The workshop team found the fault and corrected it. Their price for this service was incredibly reasonable. I can highly recommend them and the fact that they are located within the impressive PMT showroom is an added bonus.
