Welcome to The Gray Ox The Gray Ox is a Gastro Pub which dates back to 1709. The Gray Ox has a commanding position overlooking Brighouse, Huddersfield and the surrounding countryside. Originally a farm house/ale house, locals would frequent the Gray Ox jug in hand and served from barrels which were once positioned by the door left of the bar. Today youÂ’ll see many of the original features that have travelled so well in time sitting alongside our more recent additions which we hope have enhanced these features whilst still retaing a country inn from bygone days Excellent food using the finest local produce The Gray Ox is a Gastro Pub with a fantastic menu. We use local produce from surrounding farms and suppliers proudly with provenance in mind whenever we write a new menu or dish.
Fires are lit in the winter months, creating a lovely rustic feel.
The pub is split into quirky separate areas to dine, each with their own individual decor style.
Over the moor and further, a beer on the courtyard is perfect on a summers day!

Excellent food in the middle of nowhere!

Warm, cosy pub with a really friendly atmosphere. Excellent (quite posh) pub food, really fresh tasting and nice portion sizes; not too big, but ample to fill you up. Prices are very reasonable. Waitresses are efficient but do not rush you. Recommend for a nice family meal.
