The Duston Craftsman

Richard (The Duston Craftsman) from quote to finish was a pleasure to deal with.

Richard really listened to everything we were asking for, took his time to understand what was important and functionally what I wanted. In his quote he gave a clear write up of everything I requested but with thorough technical detail giving me reassurance and confidence that he had really understood what I was trying to achieve.

My request:
* Wall with multiple shelving strips to display comics
* Shelving and cabinets in the alcove with comic book drawers and some storage space. The shelves to be designed dual purpose, with ability to display models, incorporating lighting, removable tiers for the models and to fit puzzles/games
* In jet black

The furniture produced by Richard exceeded expectations, better than we could have imagined.
There were a couple of slight delays due to unforeseen circumstances but he always kept me up to date.
The end result was well worth the wait!

I had Richard do a small kitchen and I am completely satisfied with the end result, not only was I working to a fairly tight budget, there where other considerations such as plumbing, tiling, both wall and floor, decorating, along with a host of other small things that would not usually be a cabinet makers remit. I guess this is where Richards background as a boat builder came to the fore, he was able to competently undertake all of the other jobs as well as making and fitting the actual kitchen units. If I'm honest this didn't save me any money but it saved me a whole lot of aggravation organising other tradesmen. Turned what was potentially a really stressful experience in to one that I would happily do again. Richards ability to find solutions to problems is really impressive, nothing seems to phase him in fact I would say he gets a kick out of solving the seemingly insurmountable.

The Duston Craftsman recently blade and installed two alcove units for our dining room. We new we wanted a classic design, plain off white exteriors with Shaker type doors on the lower cabinets. What we weren’t expecting was the lovely oak veneer interiors, it’s a simple thing but makes the whole thing just ooze class, it makes may heart sing every time I open the door. I think for us it was Richard’s attention to detail that made the difference between having furniture that was nice to having something really special, we love them.

Would highly recommend, Richard is a lovely guy he listens to what you want but more importantly he understands what you want and gives good sound advice. Communication throughout the process of commissioning our bedroom furniture was excellent, more over the finished product exceeded our best expectations. Will definitely have him back next year when we do the kitchen.
