Wedding

a recent experience of booking the Coppleridge for a wedding I am afraid its former well-earned reputation is in decline since the new owners took over.
The accommodation was mediocre , the food over cooked and dry, service absolutely horrendous with inappropriately dressed staff, long waits for drinks and rude responses to requests of staff.
Although the bride and groom had a wonderful day this was not because of the venue staff, facilities or catering, it was in fact in spite of them and due to a very conscientious and aware group of guests.
To top it all when a polite request was made to discuss the observations the manager became irate, aggressive, and argumentative and was openly cursing as guests were leaving the following morning. Some guests stated they feared it would get violent and extracted themselves to avoid confrontation.
We shall not be venturing near the venue under its current management and would urge all who wish a pleasant experience to do the same

Something For Everyone

Visited on the morning of 1 July for coffee whilst en-route to the Cotswolds.
Set in 15 acres of unspoilt woodland, meadow and lawn, this 18 century converted farmhouse offers something quite special. Inside, main olde-worlde type of bar and several smaller dining areas for private parties. All were laid and prepared for the lunch service with quality linen and cutlery.
Outside, large well furnished patio and vine covered pergola overlooking woodland, huge lawn and open countryside. They also have their own huge well stocked vegetable patch which I suspect goes straight in the kitchen. Separately, there is a large enclosed children's play area away from the lawn and patio.
Also within the main complex are about 12 accommodation rooms and a barn that appears to be used extensively for weddings and private functions. My wife even found a hairdressers salon in a converted stable !
We did not eat but their menu is extensive and reasonably priced for the area and rather special ambiance.
Tourists, worth a look if you want something a bit special at fair value for money.
