Established in 1976, we are a family run Fireplace business with a large showroom, based in the heart of Islington. We have many period and contemporary designs on show, along with both woodburning and gas stoves.
We also offer a full, professional installation service for all of our products.

Terrible service

I bought a mantle and gas fire from The Better Hearth. Unfortunately, despite their fitter coming out to measure up, the mantle and shelf did not fit the fireplace space when it arrived. They ask for full payment up front before delivery and weren't interested in the problem, or in finding a solution. I would avoid this place if you can.

Dear Jane. We are sorry to hear that you are not happy. You came in to see the mantel you purchased in person before paying, and the one you chose was an off the shelf size. We made sure that it fitted your existing insert that you wanted to keep, your chimney breast, and your hearth. We completed the installation of everything, and it went smoothly. The only issue was some gaps in the skirting which - unless you had a besoke mantel made to size - was always going to be a possibility. The fitter has offered a few different solutions for this. It is disappointing that you have decided to leave a review, as we are still in the prcoess of trying to resolve this for you.

Not only is the name of the shop alluring, but the service is outstanding! Amanda is knowledgeable and well-connected with the suppliers. We are so delighted with our new mantles, and the wood burning stove is sensational, all thanks to her guidance. She found us the best installer in London and a skilled chimney sweep from a family-run business with 21st Century technological wizardry. An all-round excellent experience - I cannot rate highly enough.
