Business overview

The Bear Inn is a 16th century Chef & Brewer pub that's drenched in history and character. Lying along the Heart of England Way walking trail in the tranquil village of Berkswell, our traditional country pub's bursting with charming features like ancient oak beams and atmospheric log fires. We serve comforting pub food all day, including breakfast and lunch. We do a pub Sunday roast, and we offer a tempting selection of real cask ales – all excellent whether you're coming to us after a walk or not. Our family-friendly pub's happy to welcome the dog along, while we also have free WiFi, disabled facilities and coach parking. Whether you're relaxing in our beer garden or booking your table indoors, we look forward to seeing you.

Poor in every way.

Called in today for lunch, the place was practically empty so I was surprised to wait 50 minutes for 3 sandwiches. After waiting 35 minutes I queried the order and was told another 5 minutes but we could have complimentary deserts because of the wait. We waited another 15 minutes to receive very poor quality food. The chicken and bacon sandwich was served on stale soda bread with very little chicken, no bacon and very few chips. No-one asked if we were happy with the food, the plates were not cleared away and even if we had wanted desert there were no staff around to take the order. I have visited this pub on many previous occasions and today was hugely disappointing. Standards have definitely dropped. I will not be visiting again.

We celebrated my mom and dad's diamond wedding anniversary here on 22/10/17. I must congratulate the staff and management on their brilliant service, excellent food and welcoming atmosphere. All the staff went the extra mile to make the celebration extra special. A VERY BIG THANK-YOU TO ALL STAFF AND MANAGEMENT. I would recommend the Bear Inn at Berkswell, give them a try, good food, happy staff, nice atmosphere.

Great country pub

Quaint little pub. Looked after well considering it was busy. Our meals were great. Low ceilings and open fire adds to the charm. Drinks a little on the high side but still well worth a visit.

Uninspiring food in a beautiful pub

Situated in the picturesque village of Berkswell just 5 miles from the NEC this place flatters to decieve. It is an achingly attractive pub dating back to the 16th Century it is the very essence of Olde England. Sadly that is where the attraction ends. The food is standard pub grub just slightly above average with Service that is so far below acceptable that it becomes irrititating. The staff are not rude or unobliging - they just have not got a clue how to run a good service.I asked for instance how the lamb suet pudding was served and I got the reply "I don't know!!" Not - "I'll just check for you" - just a pregnant pause and an expectant look for me to hurry up and order. I ordered a good bottle of Sancerre. It was plonked on the table unopened and left for me to unscrew the cap - no opening of the bottle and certainly no pouring for me. Compare this to the Cock Inn at Wishaw not many miles away and you have the complete opposite and for more or less the same price. I know where my next meal will be...
