Business overview

Art Works is a creative arts organisation that supports adults and young people with learning disabilities and autism to achieve their creative potential.

Art Works covers workshops in numerous creative mediums such as art, film, drama, dance, animation, photography, craft and textiles. We run creative placements in the community, working with organisations like Wentworth Woodhouse, The Sheffield Documentary Film Festival, The Wildlife Trust and the Retired Greyhound Trust.

Art Works has three bases in South Yorkshire: Art Works Sheffield based in Malin Bridge, Art Works Rotherham based in Thorpe Hesley and Art Works Studios based in Parson Cross, Sheffield. We also run regular life skills courses including swim and gym sessions, cooking and community engagement.

Fantastic support.

Our daughter started at ArtWorks two days a week about 6 months ago. She settled in very quickly and soon looked forward to going. We were immediately impressed with the enthusiasm and energy of the friendly staff and the range of opportunities available. When lock-down was first imposed they met the Covid challenge in an exemplary way with appropriate protocols that enabled classes to continue. When closed by strict lock-down they launched a variety of Zoom meetings each week: drawing, painting, collage, songwriting, learning about artists and film animation, not forgetting a fun Bingo session on Fridays. These have helped maintain contact and provide stimulation. The staff have even visited us in person to deliver art materials for the sessions. Our daughter’s art has improved markedly with all the practise. In all, the staff have offered fantastic support in very difficult circumstances, and we look forward to seeing the full palette of ArtWorks activities as Covid recedes.

We've been part of the Artworks family for a few years now and it really is one big family. I'm not sure where we would be without them. Their work is outstanding and my son has been given a lot of opportunities to do things that he wouldn't normally have had. Everyone is very friendly and can't do enough for you. Artworks have really made a difference for our family and we feel very lucky to have them.
During lockdown they've worked really hard to keep everyone busy and keep in touch with everyone, making sure there's been plenty to do. We can't thank them all enough.

Amazing Artworks

We are fairly new to Artworks however, we already feel like part of a lovely group of people. Staff are so friendly, knowledgeable and caring. They have great ideas and resources for students to access. During Lockdown, staff have kept in regular contact with our family, bringing art supplies and sharing suggestions on how to keep engaged in art projects. So glad we have been able to access their services.
