15 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN STRUCTURAL DESIGN

We provide structural design services for residential, commercial and industrial developments.

Our services include site visits, design development, design calculations and structural drawings suitable for Building Regulations and construction.

Often on smaller projects there will be no Architect, so we take the time to talk through with the Client to determine their aim so as to develop a structural scheme that works best for them and their plans.

Where an Architect has been engaged we are accustomed to working closely with them to achieve the desired look whilst not compromising the structure.

Drawings are normally produced on the industry standard package AutoCAD. For smaller jobs or when time is of the essence Engineers sketches can be used to convey the same information.

Mr Swayne helped me to design an all seasons grill house and then went on to help create an L shaped extension for my home. I could picture something but didn’t know how to take it forward. He set about creating the vision and did structural calculations and drawings for my extension. These drawing were submitted and passed all construction and Building Regulations.


I found Mr Swayne very helpful and curious about what I wanted to achieve which led to the opportunity to build the extension and much loved grill house. He is professional, remained very helpful, he kept me up rock date and worked with me to design something that met my needs and considered the challenges I faced.
Mr Swayne was always available and I highly recommend his personal approach to your develop ideas.

I had sam come around to confirm, if a wall I’m looking to remove is structural
Or not. I had builders telling me it is structural and quoating me thousands, sam made two holes in my ceiling and confirmed that it wasn’t structural and explained it all to me so I can get straight on with the job. I’m happy with the service provided and would recommend to others, the peace of mind and money I’ve saved by having a professional was well worth the cost of his services.

We contacted Sam after finding him on the internet and he responded immediately and was extremely helpful and professional. Even though it was close to Christmas he made a special journey from Plymouth to our home near Launceston, offering sound advice and suggestions. His interim drawings detailing several options came very soon after. We were very impressed with Sam’s knowledge and approachability and his interim drawings were of a high quality and he charges a fair rate for his work. We look forward to working with him again and feel confident that he will continue to provide a great service.

We got a structural report before we bought

Sam Swayne inspected our house before we bought it. He did a thorough job, correctly estimated the age of the house ( unlike the agent), was aware of possible problems with regard to materials used that are associated with the Tavistock area, and gave us a written report that was straightforward and easy to understand.
