Studio4 Architecture

We recently employed the services of Christopher Williams (Studio4 Architecture) for the design of a substantial extension and reconfiguration of our 1920’s house. He was very attentive when discussing our overall project and was clearly sympathetic to retain the Edwardian character of the house with some clever ideas reconfiguring the space available, and was very willing to listen to our feedback on his proposals. He prepared very detailed plans and produced a 3D mock-up of his proposals. This really helped us to get a good sense of the spaces we were creating. He submitted them to the Harrogate Borough Council on our behalf. When our building work started and our builder has been uncertain about some of the construction Christopher has been available to discuss these with him and to make site visits where appropriate. He has always responded promptly to such requests. We have been very happy with the service we have received and would have no hesitation in recommending him.

We used Studio4 to help use design an extension to modernise our home with a new open-plan kitchen and living space. They provided design options based on our likes and gained planning permission, completed the construction design drawings and recruited and over saw the work of the contractor. We are delighted with the result and can highly recommend Christopher and Studio4 for their considered and professional approach.

Please don’t fall for all the fake reviews below. Note that all the 5 star reviews happened between 2017 and 2018 for 1 year when this firm hired a social media firm to give them a positive and glowing review. Don’t believe me? Look across the internet.

Believe the review just below (1 star) we had a very similar experience. Christopher Williams is not an architect, that’s true, but as an architectural designer he simply doesn’t know the basics of building rules and he also has very limited design vision. If you simply need someone to draw up a simple design then fine but if you need any thinking then look elsewhere. He also gave us quite an inaccurate portrayal of any conversations he had, and wasted a lot of our time. Offers close to no value when interacting with builders.

If you want to lose money and be made to feel like you are losing your marbles in your interactions with him, then go for it.

Otherwise employ someone with skill. I am sure there are many.

January of 2021 we met with Christopher Williams at Studio4 and made the decision to use them as our architect for our large house renovation. We made two payments to Studio4 and part from submitting some plans for a driveway and taking measurements of our house we have had nothing else over year after our initial meeting. Christopher consistently lied to us before Christmas saying he had done the first set of plans for our and at the end of January after almost 2 weeks of unanswered emails, text messages, voicemails and What's App messages he finally got responded admitting that he hadn't even started the plans due to a high workload and illness! We have now wasted an entire year of our time and Christopher has only offered us as he puts it a "goodwill gesture" of £375 from £1462 we have paid him. We have responded to this email from Christopher saying this isn't sufficient for the lack of work and time wasted and as usual he has not even had the decency to reply.

Studio4 have been so good to work with, they listened to our ideas and created something wonderful. We love our extension in Harrogate and already have these architects lined up for some more work.
