My experience with Garys blind company
5Misled over lead time. Misled over price. Numerous problems with install. Blinds OK.
2When it actually came to order, the price had increased a lot from the verbal quote I was given. I still went ahead because of the quick turnaround but then after ordering, the lead time turned into 1 month.
The first blinds were not finally installed until 6 weeks later and then twice the wrong scaffold tower arrived so that it was actually 2 months before the final blind went in.
Even then, the saga wasn't over. Forgot to give me the pole to open the blinds with. Afterwards, I discovered they had broken 3 light bulbs and not mentioned it.
Gary seems genuine so I guess it was numerous mistakes rather than dishonesty. The blinds seem fine; hence 2 stars, not 1.
Original estimate was for a basic white fabric on all 7 windows, on 23/5. Customer then decided they wanted a blackout fabric on 5 of the 7 windows. This was more expensive. Second estimate sent 25/5. Price agreed with a further 10% discount. 5 blinds completed 5/7. Delays due to manufacturers misleading time line. Customer kept informed of any changes. Scaffolding tower was needed for the last two blinds as they were 5.8 mtrs high Tower company mistakenly sent wrong tower and correct delivery was delayed. I believed that the wand was left at first fitting, but this was delivered to customer as soon as I became alerted to the error. I was unaware that any light bulbs had broken during the fitting, (I was told me they fall out in a breeze), however, I agreed, to cover the cost of four replacement bulbs and took £20 from the outstanding balance. I hope the above explanation helps the customer understand, that the process was a fair and genuine one.
