Nice food and survive

I had prebooked a table online. When we went in, the gentleman on the desk was off-hand & not friendly. He couldn’t even summon up a fake smile! The waiter who served us was brusque to the point of rudeness throughout the meal. The poppadoms arrived with very poor quality mango chutney (slop) and grey mint yogurt which looked like fake longlife and lacked taste. Waiter put it down & couldn’t get away quickly enough. We had to call him back to place a drinks order. He then removed the wine glasses & wine list without asking if we would want wine later (we did). Our main dishes were tasty but the coconut rice was the smallest potion I’ve ever had in a restaurant and was bland. We were made to feel as if our presence was an inconvenience. If the waiter we had treats all customers in that way a lot of custom will be lost. It was one of the rare occasions that we left no tip. Next time we want an Indian meal or a takeaway, we’ll go to Winscombe or Burnham or Weston!

What is really good about this restaurant is the large range of dishes from Bangladesh. You can still have your tandoori tikka masala if you want to but the joy comes from exploring the unfamiliar but equally delicious items.
