Business overview

The Southmead Project was founded by John Dunn, a parent who lived in Southmead and who had concerns about the impact of problematic drug misuse on young people, particularly heroin. John approached the current CEO – Mike Peirce – and asked if he could help set about establishing a facility to meet the obvious need. From those early beginnings in 1994, the charity has evolved into what we see today and developed specialisms particularly in respect of abuse counselling. Confirmation of what the charity means to many is best illustrated by the awards given; an MBE for Mike Peirce and the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services to the charity itself.
