small is beautiful

The restaurant itself is tiny, and feels a bit like you've walked into somebody's living room in the 1970's. I've been here a couple of times, and although the veggie options are limited, they never disappoint. If you like your food spicy, I highly recommend the arrabiata- it blows your head off but its amazing and if you follow it with the lemon sorbet, you'll quickly put out the flames. The staff are friendly and its always packed with regulars which is a good sign. Also, for the standard of food, this is excellent value for money, so wont hurt your wallet if you are on a tight budget.

Godfather IV

Did Francis Ford Coppola eat here?

This is a classic: very narrow entrance to a creaky but well maintained staircase to the first floor to a one room, twelve (?) table, open view kitchen present.

The main lighting comes from three pendant fixtures: one with a green, one with a red and one with uncoloured glass. Very "Godfather'. This place is a definite throwback, perhaps because it never left the nineteen thirties.

Busy and obviously popular, there appear to be two kinds of wine and two very happy workers named Fredo (in the kitchen) and Marco. Remember Coppola's Fredo?

The minestrone disappointed: thin flavoured broth with grated carrots and cabbage; not my cup of soup.

The Tagliatelle Marinara was presented with a flavourful, slightly creamy tomato sauce containing shrimp, squid and mussels.

If Marco's friend made the tiramisu, as Marco said, his friend must have worked for Entenmenn's in New York, though their's is better.

That and coffee: £15.
