This company gave a certificate saying they had swept the chimney in September before I bought my house. This was a chimney over a gas fire, and was a safety requirement for the sale. Today I had the chimney re-swept by another company prior to a stove installation. The sweep said in his opinion the chimney had not been swept, and the nest was still there. He said this was dangerous for a gas fire as carbon monoxide could have leaked into the room had the nest slipped and blocked the chimney.

Wood-burning stove service

Swept chimney OK, but service of wood-burning stove was poor. Left stove handle in a seized state and told us to put some WD40 on it......which made little difference but he'd gone by then. A lot of unnecessary pestering for payment too as bill was paid quickly. We had to call someone else out to fix the stove door.

Thorough and helpful chimney sweep and stove service

Having bought a wood burner through Hudson Stoves I had bought the lifetime guarantee which included a chimney sweep and stove service each year. It was easy to arrange and the sweeper called an hour or so before to give a specific time. The sweep and service was thorough (including some tips to keep it working well during the winter) and he brought plenty of covers for the flooring and rugs so that the living room was left spotless afterwards.
