avoid the place. I wouldn’t want others to have a ruined weekend like we did. The heating in the room and bathroom didn’t work at all for the full 2 days we were there, on a freezing cold weekend in January this was truely horrible. We alerted staff politely several times but unfortunately it wasn’t resolved. On the second day after being unable to find anywhere else nearby to move to we went and bought big fleece jumpers and slippers to sleep in. It was such an uncomfortable two nights that I paid £250 for! The room wasn’t very clean, really dusty, few wrappers laying around and marks down the toilet. There is also a strong smell of drains in the hall and stairway. There was no one around when we checked out (had to leave keys on the bar) and the money was taken out of my bank in two separate payments at random times throughout the weekend, another issue, having no control over money being taken out of my account.

After reading a review somewhere, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was for one night, and the only place that accepted one night only bookings. Cheap as well compared to other places. We had a room for five. It was spacious and pleasantly decorated with large ensuite. Polly behind the bar was very welcoming and ensured we had all we needed, over and above our expectations. The Sunday carvery looked fantastic. They allowed us to keep our room for longer, without charge as one of the party was ill. The bar was friendly and very welcoming. I would definitely go back again and recommend it. BTW breakfast was included in the price.
