Poor valuations which were rushed. Made to feel un welcome despite phoning ahead to arrange an appointment. Insurance costs alongside lot charges and commission mean you receive less than 65% of the hammer price per lot. Would not recommend to anyone and will shop elsewhere and sell in other auction houses in the future.

Looking forward to the new set up at Shapes - with more auctions taking place over the month and a proposed new sale on Thursdays. As a customer have always enjoyed the monthly Saturday sales held in their new premises at Sighthill. Although a large hall - Shapes make great attempts to keep it nice and warm with big industrial sized heaters placed around the room to keep you warm. It's a long sale starting at 10 am - but they have a lovely tea room where you are provided with a constant supply of lovely coffee and teas (and good quality biscuits) all provided to customers free (a donation is made if you wish which goes to charity - which is a lovely gesture). The lady serving up the tea is a pure delight and it is always a pleasure to see her. They have big screens set up all over the auction house (including one in the tea room - which is very handy as you can enjoy a wee chat with your friends and check that you have missed your special lot coming up!) and they even have a sound system in the toilets - just in case!
Always a nice selection of items on offer each month (all photographed and available online) and I never failedl to go away empty handed... I would check items on viewing days though as often damages to any piece that you may be interested in might not always be noted in the catalogue - so a case of buyer beware. All the staff are very friendly and happy to let you look at all items before the sale. Have only put this on as a 4 star, instead of 5 Star - as I would have liked to have had the pictures moved from the end of the sale to before the furniture - but that's just me I suppose. The auctioneers get on with the auction and have good humour. Spent many a happy Saturday here - cant wait to see what they are going to do with having more regular and smaller sales.
Oh! and a great bonus - I cant name another auction house that does this - you can pay by Credit Card - and they dont charge you extra for this service - what else can you ask for!
