I have been a professional massage therapist for over 20 years, originally training and working in London before relocating to Cornwall in 2009. My main place of practice is at Thrive Wellness in Hayle, Cornwall, but I also massage at various local businesses and occassionally in St Ives.

Whilst many clients come to me because I do not do ‘airy-fairy’ massage, I do not inflict excruciating pain either. I am able to provide strong pressure if desired but employ many levels of pressure during treatment*

Whether you prefer deeper or lighter pressure, working within (pain) tolerance levels using a therapeutic touch provides effective treatment to release tension and ease discomfort.

I have undertaken specific training in pregnancy massage and hold an APNT Diploma in Pregnancy Massage. PREGNANCY MASSAGE IS COMPLETELY SAFE! Over the years I have confidently treated many women (throughout all trimesters), who have found it wonderfully relaxing and beneficial.

I often continue post-natal treatment as new mums adapt to the physical changes caused by breast-feeding, lack of sleep and carrying growing babies.

*A little note about pain!

Whilst I believe in a ‘horses for courses’ approach when it comes to clients finding the right treatment/practitioner for them, recent studies about pressure used in massage indicate that intolerable pain can stimulate the nervous system to tense muscles and is not always a means to an end.

In my experience, it has been counterproductive for some clients in providing beneficial, longterm ease, especially when working with chronic conditions.

Pressure (and sometimes, discomfort) is often necessary to work into deeper layers of soft tissue, but HOW that pressure is applied is key. And whilst I know many Sports massage therapists providing excellent treatment for their clients...it's just not the way I like to work!:)
