Dreadfulmanner of the lady on the desk was so off-putting that I walked out. Maybe the actual service from the engineers is OK? I didn't get to that stage!

Took my Aiwa record player in for repair to wiring and tone arm and was told I would hear within 10 days. I Rang 2 weeks later - not fixed, told me SS will ring when it’s ready. One week later, same thing; one week later, same thing. not fixed but “it’s on the work bench and we will ring you back”. Still no call so I went to the shop to take the player back but was told “we’ve fixed the wiring” so I had to leave it with them to finish the work. Collected it about a week later but the tone arm was dropping onto the records instead of slowly lowering, and was sliding across the tracks. I decided not to take it back as I felt I couldn’t trust them any more. Went to Oxton hi-fi and Tom, the owner, fixed the problem within 24 hours.
Before posting this review I called into SS to tell them about these issues and to ask for a refund on the part of the job they hadn’t done properly. The lady I spoke to was rude and dismissive but promised me that Bill would ring me later. I’m still waiting.

I purchased a Yamaha graphical equalizer. Took the unit home to use to which it wasn't working. Two days later I take it back to be look at by them. He charged me £10 to look at it despite it being two days old from shop! Two weeks passed heared nothing so I rang and he said it can't be fixed. He wouldn't give me any form of a refund.

have used ss radio before for a minor fault on a dvd player (dvd not ejecting from player) so when i had a problem with our ty took it there. the tv had no sound coming from it they said it was £10 finders fee but had no money on me at the time so they said it was ok i left it with them never heard from them for about a week and a half rang them the lady said he wasnt in so rang again next day he said that the tv was unrepairable and it was ready to be picked up when i got it he said it was a software problem they never asked for any money so that makes me think they didnt even looked at it so i decided to take to another place they have informed me that there was a problem with a chip on the board and it was repairable so if i had listened to ss radio i may have binned it and went to purchase another tv costing more than the repair bill . beware of ss radio they may be able to fix small jobs beware of what they say it may cost you more in the long run

A family owned business that has been passed through the generations and they have been around for decades. In fact ever since electronic devices such as radio's became popular SS Radio have been there to help. It should be called 'SOS' Radio because it's the first port of call for help most people in the area go to when their stereo, TV, radio etc. etc. breaks down. They are always busy and faulty electronic equipment is usually piled up awaiting repair. Despite this you don't have to wait very long to get your product back in working order. If you specify a day you would like it returned they are always happy to oblige. They also sell good 2nd hand equipment such as stereo receivers, amplifiers etc. You know when you buy 2nd hand goods from them they will have been thoroughly serviced and probably last years. It's the 'go-to' service for anything electronic in the area. thoroughly recommended they are experts in their field.
